    Description

The Scarlet Claw (Universal, 1944). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. One Sheet (27" X 41").
It's been said that The Scarlet Claw is the best film in the Sherlock Holmes series created at Universal, and the one sheet rarely turns up at auction. Roy William Neill, who directed the majority of Holmes pictures, crafted this thriller with suspense in the same style as the Universal horror pictures of Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi, whom he directed in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. As spine tingling as the film, the one sheet shows such indications of use as mild edge and fold wear, some fold separations, and pinholes. Also present are small chips, minor tears, as well as a dust shadow in the lower border. There are pieces of cellophane tape on the verso bracing fold separations, as well as a piece of paper tape bracing the top crossfold, which is slightly visible from the front. The verso also has some grease pencil writing, however it is not visible from the front and does not affect the presentation of the poster.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
