DescriptionThe Red Shoes (Rank, 1948). Very Fine on Linen. British One Sheet (27.25" X 40").
This lovely ballet film by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger has continued to grow in classic stature in the many years since its British release. The title of the film, its narrative, and the central ballet sequence, were wonderfully adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's original 1845 children's parable, The Red Shoes. Moira Shearer stars alongside Marius Goring in this enchanting picture. Featuring a lovely image of Shearer, this British one sheet has had professional touchup to the folds, a couple of pinholes in the upper corners, a top left corner crease, and a very minor chip in the upper right edge. The borders have been airbrushed.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
