    Description

    The Primal Lure (Triangle-Ince, 1916). Three Sheet (41" X 81").
William Surrey Hart was a native New Yorker who became known as the greatest cowboy star of the Silent Era. From his first feature, The Bargain, he was a big star, with exhibitors voting him the top money-maker in both 1915 and 1916. Hart was a friend of real cowboys Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp (he was a pallbearer, along with Tom Mix, at Earp's funeral), as well as aviatrix Amelia Earhart. He left his house in Santa Clarita to Los Angeles County, to be used as a museum. "When I was making pictures, the people gave me their nickels, dimes, and quarters. When I am gone, I want them to have my home." Today it is a branch of the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. This lovely stone litho poster has edge wear with chips, fold wear with separations and minor paper loss at the crossfolds, and some brittleness. Folded, Fine+.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
