    Description

    The Primal Lure (Triangle-Ince, 1916). One Sheet (28" X 41").
William Surrey Hart, who became known as the greatest cowboy star of the Silent Era, first got his start on stage with roles in the original Ben-Hur (1899) and The Virginian (1907), as well as dabbling in Shakespeare. He hit it big right from his first feature,The Bargain, with exhibitors voting him the top money-maker in both 1915 and 1916. Hart was even a friend of real cowboys Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp (he was a pallbearer, along with Tom Mix, at Earp's funeral), as well as aviatrix Amelia Earhart. This lovely stone litho poster has had professional restoration to address tearing at the folds, smaller tears in the borders, and chips in the borders and folds. There has been touchup to the crossfolds. Fine on Linen.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
