DescriptionThe Pride of the Yankees (RKO, R-1949). Very Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
This classic biopic tells the story of the short but remarkable life of baseball great Lou Gehrig, played by Gary Cooper, the NY Yankees first baseman that earned the nickname "The Iron Horse" for his endurance and reliability. After meeting the love of his life (Teresa Wright), Gehrig is struck down with an incurable (and ultimately fatal) neurological condition and forced to retire from the game. Offered here is the 1949 reissue poster that features Babe Ruth in the image, which is often preferred by collectors. The professionally restored poster has had very light touchup to the folds, minute tears, and a small paper lift at the top edge. The poster displays beautifully and the colors are vibrant.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
