    Description

The Postman Always Rings Twice (MGM, 1946). One Sheet (27" X 41").
One of the best of all film noirs of all time, this screen adaptation of James M. Cain's novel finds Cora Smith (Lana Turner) and Frank Chambers (John Garfield) entangled in a smoldering affair too intense to last, leaving murder, revenge, and tragedy in its wake. Too bad for them, the couple can't outrun the past, even after beating the murder rap for offing the vixen's husband (Cecil Kellaway). Although Cain's novel was written in 1934, MGM had to wait till 1946 before they were allowed to make such a dark film. A classic collectible always in demand, this moody one sheet has had restoration work to the folds, pinholes in the background, small tears, and minor crossfold chips. There was a mild gouge in the lower right borderland a tear in Turner's skirt. Rolled, Fine/Vey Fine.

    Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
