    Description

The Philadelphia Story (MGM, 1940). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41") Style C.
After starring in a string of box office flops in the late 1930s, Katharine Hepburn's career seemed to be teetering on the brink of ruin. Never short on moxie, Hepburn's response was to return to the Broadway stage in The Philadelphia Story, to play a role that had been written especially for her. The production was an enormous success, and with the help of Howard Hughes, Hepburn shrewdly acquired the film rights and sold them to MGM. The resulting movie was one of that studio's biggest successes of 1940, instantly revitalizing Hepburn's career. The savvy Ms. Hepburn shines on this color rich one sheet, embracing co-stars Cary Grant and James Stewart. Professional repairs have been applied to slight fold wear and separations, small surface scuffs, pinholes, and minor chips and tears. The upper borders and parts of the lower border have been airbrushed.

    Estimate: $5,000 - $10,000.
