Description

The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu (Paramount, 1929). Full- Bleed One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
This magnificent stone litho image of Warner Oland is from the first of his four screen appearances as Sax Rohmer's insidious villain, Dr. Fu Manchu. This film makes an effort to explain Fu's hatred of all whites by showing the death of the Doctor's family during the Boxer Rebellion. Twenty years later, Fu Manchu is a full-blooded villain, using a hypnotized Jean Arthur to help wipe out the British family Fu holds responsible for the deaths of his loved ones. But when Arthur falls in love with potential victim Neil Hamilton, Dr. Fu Manchu is forced to add her to his death-list. This is one of the rare Paramount full-bleed posters which the studio only did for a few seasons. There are two styles of one sheets for this film and this is, in our opinion, the better of the two. The poster is marked "Silent" at the bottom of the poster and this was one of the transitional films that was released in a silent and sound version. Showing only light fold wear, the poster is in excellent condition and will be a star in any collection! Very Fine- on Linen.
