The Mummy's Shroud by Boris Grinsson (20th Century Fox, 1967). Signed Original Gouache French Poster Artwork on Illustration Board (19.75" X 25.5").
Hammer Film Studios had revived their failing business with a production slate of horror films, recreating the old Universal monster films of the 1930s and 1940s. Likewise, they revived the Mummy series with their own versions, starting with The Mummy, then Curse of the Mummy's Tomb and then this tale, The Mummy's Shroud. All of the poster campaigns for this film were similar to each other using this design of a giant mummy clutching Maggie Kimberley in his bandage wrapped hand. This painting has been signed in the bottom left by Boris Grinsson and was printed on the French Grande posters as well. Signs of use include slight edge wear, mild corner bumps, a tiny paper lift in the bottom right corner and very faint foxing. As minor as these signs of use are, they do not detract from the overall bright, colorful and impressive Grinsson design from a key period of Hammer Horror. Very Fine- on Art Board.
