    Description

The Maltese Falcon (Warner Brothers, 1941). Very Good on Cardstock. Window Card (14" X 22").
John Huston created the definitive version of Dashiell Hammett's novel with this, the third filmed version of the book. Humphrey Bogart took on the role of Sam Spade, the lecherous and cynical detective, with all the suave he could muster. He also re-created himself from a B list actor on the Warner lot to one of their top leading men with this performance. This story of a group of inept thugs chasing a mysterious treasure, a jewel encrusted Black Bird, and hiring the detective to help them in their quest, has become the stuff of legend in Hollywood as one of the most important films of the film noir genre. Posters on this title are highly desirable; however, this window card goes beyond the normal appeal. Other than this window card and the six sheet, every poster designed by Warners featured Bogart as Mad Dog Roy Earle from High Sierra. Due to the popularity of that film, the studio felt that this was how the populace wanted to see Bogart, and so that's what the studio gave them. For true fans of this film, this is THE poster to have. Bogart appears as he should, as Sam Spade out to avenge the murder of his partner. Well conserved, this window card once had a vertical fold, creases, pinholes, and surface wear. There was a tear in the lower left background, as well as a few smaller ones at the edges. The imprint area, side borders, and part of the lower background and credits were once trimmed, but have since been skillfully replaced. Very Good on Cardstock.
