Description

The Maltese Falcon (Warner Brothers, 1931). CGC Graded Lobby Card (11" X 14").
A nigh on perfect specimen from a long bygone era, this excellent lobby card comes from a rare, complete set of lobby cards. The individual cards themselves are already difficult to obtain, and Heritage has the unique opportunity to present a full set at auction, piece by piece. Unlike many of the other actors in this production, who found the transition to talkies a difficult task, newcomer Una Merkel really began her Hollywood career after the advent of sound technology. With two silent credits under her belt, Merkel starred in her first talking role as Ann Rutledge in D.W. Griffith's Abraham Lincoln, and went on to have a long career well into the 1960s. Like the other incredible pieces in the offered set, this excellent shot of Merkel and leading man Ricardo Cortez has earned a nearly perfect grade of 9.6, Near Mint+.

    Estimate: $4,000 - $8,000.
