Description

The Magnificent Seven (Art Krebs Silk Screen Studio,1960). Saul Bass Silk Screen Poster (25" X 35.5").
Designed and executed by the legendary Saul Bass and privately printed by him in 1960 in an edition of 400, this is an original silk screen concept poster for The Magnificent Seven. The Museum of Modern Art, friends, and exhibitions were the originally intended recipients of the poster. Collectors have always fascinated that this image was not used by distributor United Artists. The design directly relates to the very origins of John Sturges' remake of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai right down to the tilted ends of the number symbol done in the style of Japanese Kanji script. The heads of United Artists surely thought this "intellectual" concept far too difficult for the American public, fearing that they "just wouldn't get it." Very rare! Rolled, Near Mint.
