Description

The Lost Weekend (Paramount, 1946). French Grande (46" X 62.25") Boris Grinsson Artwork.
Lost Weekend was the Best Picture winner at the 1945 Academy Awards, and Ray Milland also took home an Oscar for his outstanding portrayal as the writer who ruins his life during a weekend bender. Based on the novel by Charles Jackson and directed by Billy Wilder, The Lost Weekend also won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay (Wilder, Charles Brackett). This wonderful French grande, featuring artwork by Boris Grinsson of the troubled alcoholic and Jane Wyman as his hopeful girlfriend, lends its bold brown and umber tones to the iconic film noir look. There has been restoration to fold wear and tears at the folds, pinholes in the borders and a few in the image area, and paper loss in the upper right corner that has been replaced. There is an unrestored stain in the upper background and the linen has been trimmed to the borders, but not into the poster itself. Fine/Very Fine, on Linen

    Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
