    Description

The Letter (Warner Brothers, 1947). First Post-War Release Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77") Luigi Martinati Artwork.
Famed Italian artist Luigi Martinati delivers a Bette Davis that is clearly a force to be reckoned with on this rare and gorgeous Italian 4-fogli. Featuring the star with smoking gun and Gale Sondergaard as the imposing Eurasian widow of Davis' victim, the poster is a brilliant representation of one of the greatest film noir classics. Davis is the cold-blooded killer who quips, "I still love the man I killed," and is acquitted of the murder. The attorney secretly purchased a letter that would have implicated Davis's character, and then buries it to get her acquitted on self-defense. This remains one of Davis's best films and the posters are always in high demand. This stunning 4 - fogli has edge and fold wear, fold separations, pinholes into the interior, and a few small border tears. There are chips in the folds, pieces of archival tape on the verso, mild toning, and some staining with surface rippling. The two panels have been attached with an adhesive on the verso, and there is painted writing on the back that only shows through in the borders. Folded, Fine+.
