DescriptionThe House of Silence (Paramount, 1918). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (28.25" X 41").
Silent era action hero and heartthrob, Wallace Reid, takes top billing in this crime drama under the direction of Donald Crisp alongside Ann Little, Winter Hall, and Adele Farrington. Scandalously set in a "House of Ill Repute," many of the film reels were sent to the chopping block upon reaching the local state and city film censorship boards, with scenes, lines, and intertitles cut to be less offensive to general audience members. Professional restoration has addressed diagonal folds in the corners, tears, small chips, and fold wear. The border have been airbrushed. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
