DescriptionThe Hound of the Baskervilles (20th Century Fox, 1939). Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14").
The first of 14 Sherlock Holmes movies made with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, this classic tale by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would establish Rathbone as the definitive Sherlock Holmes. Taking place in both London and the lonely, barren moors of Devon, this intriguing mystery centers around the wealthy Baskerville family and their country estate. When the lord of the manor supposedly dies of a heart attack, an ancient legend of a hellish hound roaming the moors and seeking vengeance against the Baskervilles has the locals believing he didn't die of natural causes. Cards and posters from this film have always been scarce. This lot of two cards from the set of 8 is in nice condition with some slight restoration to pinholes and slight staining on both cards. Great scenes from a classic film. Fine/Very Fine.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
