DescriptionThe High Sign (Metro Pictures, 1921). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
In this Buster Keaton comedy, the Great Stone Face plays a crafty vagabond that somehow cons his way into working a shooting gallery at an amusement park. Luck, as usual, is not on his side, and things go awry when the murderous Blinking Buzzards mob hire the phony marksman as an assassin, while the mob's target and his pretty daughter hire Keaton as a bodyguard. This amusing scene card is from the film's end, in which Keaton is chased through a house filled with secret passages. Very rare, this is only the second item we at Heritage have ever offered for the film. The card had pinholes in the borders, a couple of small tears, and some unobtrusive stains. Touchup has also been applied to a few chips in the right border, and a tear in the bottom border extends slightly into the background. Fine/Very Fine.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
