The Hidden Fortress (Toho, 1958). Very Fine- on Linen. Japanese B2 (20.25" X 29").
Having felt in a slump after the lackluster reaction to his last two more serious and tragic films, legendary director Akira Kurosawa was determined to make a fun, thrilling picture that audiences would be sure to enjoy. While not touted as the most superb of Kurosawa's films, The Hidden Fortress certainly inspired a highly successful line of cinema-- Most notably including George Lucas' masterpiece Star Wars. Casting one of the most legendary Japanese actors Toshiro Mifune as the rogue general Rokurota Makabe, Kurosawa succeeded once again in making a true samurai classic. This decidedly rare country-of-origin poster has had restoration applied to correct light fold wear, pinholes, a small chip, and minor tears including a tear from the top edge through the "Toho Scope" logo into the upper background.

    Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
