    Description

    The Hero of Submarine D-2 (Vitagraph, 1916). Three Sheet (42.25" X 80.5").
Though not yet officially part of the tangled mess that was WWI, many Americans already felt embroiled in the international conflict, as evidenced by this undersea adventure. When a US battle fleet accidentally strays into the enemy waters of the fictional Ruania, Lt. Commander Colton (played by Charles Richman) comes to the rescue, shooting himself out of a torpedo and manually disarming a mine field. Paul Scardon directs, while James Morrison, Anders Randolf, and Charles Wellesley all costar. A first time offer from Heritage, this brilliant stone litho poster has had restoration apply touchup to chips in the folds and borders. There were several tears in the image area and borders, one of which extends horizontal through the upper background and Richmond's face. There is also touchup along the left and right edges to even out the alignment of the panels. Fine on Linen.

    Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
