    Description

The Headless Horseman (Powers ComiColor, 1934). One Sheet (27" X 41").
The Headless Horseman was one of a series of "ComiColor" cartoons Ub Iwerks (1901-1971) produced, usually based on fairy or folk tales, not unlike Disney's concurrent "Silly Symphonies." Iwerks was an early colleague of Walt Disney's, but after Iwerks had a falling-out with the boss he struck out on his own, and established a studio under his own name in 1930. Posters from these shorts are quite charming, and can be challenging to find. Prior to restoration, the poster showed tears in the borders, a chip in the right border, chips in the left and top border, a tear in the left border through the Headless Horseman, and fold wear. This stone litho piece is a Heritage first. From the collection of Pete Merolo. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
