    Description

    The Great Mexican War (El Paso Film Company, 1914). Three Sheet (41.75" X 82") & Broadside (21" X 28").
Featuring footage of Mexico during its revolution, with leaders Pancho Villa, General Salazar, and General Carranza, who would become President of Mexico in 1917, this early four-reel documentary is a rare look at journalism of the day. The picture was filmed and hosted by Dr. Charles A. Pryor, an unscrupulous character who bolstered his credentials in order to secure film rights to Villa's story and to sell his film to American theaters. Shortly after the release, he was arrested for grand larceny, never delivering the movie to some theater owners. This is only the third time Heritage has offered this stunning stone litho poster, which has been restored to address a small chip under the "T" of "The", a very small sliver of missing paper along the left edge, pinholes in the borders, and edge wear. There are some surface scratches, minor writing bleedthrough in the right border, and touchup has been applied to the folds. Included is a broadside that advertises the film. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
