DescriptionThe Gold Rush (United Artists, 1925). Fine+. Window Card (13.75" X 22").
Charlie Chaplin's iconic character, the ever optimistic Little Tramp, heads to Alaska to strike it rich in the gold rush. He has several run-ins with a fugitive and other prospectors, and falls in love with a pretty saloon maid played by Georgia Hale. This is one of Chaplin's best and most endearing films, and this extremely rare window card features the classic shot of the Little Tramp in stone lithography, trying to keep warm in the unforgiving Alaskan winter. This professionally conserved piece once displayed edge wear, creases, and a chip in the bottom left corner that extended slightly into the background. The borders and imprint area have been airbrushed, and a 2" trim in the imprint area has been restored. Slightly smaller than most other window cards, this pieces measures 13.75" in width, as it was originally printed ninety years ago.
Estimate: $10,000 - $20,000.
