    Description

The Ghost of Frankenstein (Universal, 1942). Fine/Very Fine on Paper. Insert (14" X 36").
Always a popular title among horror fans, this classic marks Lon Chaney Jr's first and only turn as Frankenstein's creation, taking on the creature's makeup as Boris Karloff moved on to less physically demanding roles. Despite receiving fourth billing in the film's advertisements underneath the credits of Cedric Hardwicke, Ralph Bellamy, and Lionel Atwill, the real star of the show and biggest audience draw was Bela Lugosi's creepy reprisal of the demented lab assistant, Ygor, from the series' 1939 installment, Son of Frankenstein. As the last film to feature Frankenstein's famous creation as the sole villain in any Universal horror flick, this picture marks the changeover to the studio's new monster mashup format seen in later titles such as Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein, and House of Dracula. Featuring a great image with eerily tinted closeups of the cast, especially Chaney and Lugosi, this insert has received touchup to the folds, a couple of horizontal creases, pinholes, and minute paper loss at the edges. The poster shows mild unaddressed toning, but still displays well. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
