    Description

The Gaucho (United Artists, 1927). Fine+ on Cardstock. Window Card (14" X 22").
A fabulous piece of early Hollywood nostalgia, this striking, bold portrait of one of the icons of the silver screen, Douglas Fairbanks, is from the height of his incredible box office popularity. The hero of this film, the Gaucho, starts off as a lowlife fraud, who dupes the good religious folks who pilgrimage to the small village of Miracle City, and steals their alms. His wild life includes a romance with a lusty mountain girl, played by Lupe Velez in her film debut. Things soon change and after seeing a vision of the Virgin Mary played by Fairbanks' wife, Mary Pickford, the Gaucho sees the light and mends his ways. An incredibly rare and special stone litho window card, this beauty shows a trim of the blank white imprint area and some airbrushing of the white field and imprint. Fine+ on Cardstock.

    Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
