DescriptionThe Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). One Sheet (27" X 41").
One of the biggest names among the sci-fi classics, this Robert Wise picture perfectly encapsulated the growing anxiety of American citizens as the world advanced into the Atomic Age. The themes of peace and destruction balance against one another throughout the film in the alien emissary Klaatu and his towering bodyguard Gort, eventually offering the audience the hope of a better, safer world. An icon among sci-fi posters, professional restoration to this one sheet has addressed fold wear, pinholes into the interior, and mild paper loss in the borders. There is a tear from the upper border that extends into the top of the black background and a tear from the lower left border into the background. The linen has been trimmed to the borders with only a minute trim into the edge of the left border. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $8,000 - $16,000.
