Description

The Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Robert Wise directed this close-encounter classic, one of many contributions the late filmmaker made to Hollywood history. He served as editor for two Orson Welles' masterpieces, "Citizen Kane" and "The Magnificent Ambersons," the former earning him an Oscar nomination. Shortly thereafter, he moved into directing, and "The Set-Up" began a string of revered films, most famously -- "West Side Story," "The Sound of Music," "I Want to Live!" and this innovator of socially conscious science fiction. This card features a portrait of the alien Klaatu and his bodyguard, Gort, and it looks fantastic. Aside from several pinholes and the most minor abrasions and crease marks on the image, the card has held up well. Very Fine.
