    Description

The Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Robert Wise's classic science fiction epic is still the standard to which all other sci-fi films are compared! In this story, way ahead of its time, the film explores the issue of what man would do if suddenly confronted by an alien race far superior to our own. Michael Rennie stars as the alien Klaatu who comes to earth with a message. He's accompanied by one of the greatest robots in cinema's history, Gort! This beautiful half sheet features both Rennie and Gort as they step out of their flying saucer! This rolled piece has a 3/4 inch edge tear in the left border adjacent to the title and a 1.5 inch by 1/2 inch bite from the lower right border. It has one or two pinholes in three corners and a 1 inch tear in the lower border which barely extends into the red title block. There were two small round holes in the top border. It has a bent upper right corner and a chip out of the upper left corner. All of the defects other than the tear in the left border have been repaired with some airbrushing in the borders. The poster has not been backed. These defects have been repaired to be almost invisible and this piece looks absolutely great. Never folded. Rolled, Very Fine-.
