DescriptionThe Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). Fine+ on Linen. Insert (14" X 36").
The Day the Earth Stood Still is considered the forerunner of all the 1950s sci-fi films that followed. It was so popular in fact, that a full blown remake of this classic science fiction thriller was released in 2008. Robert Wise directed this masterpiece that deals with man's paranoia and aggression towards things he doesn't understand. This is the dynamite action-capturing insert, with Gort unleashing his fierce laser-like death ray. Sci-fi diehards should not miss this one! Professionally restored, this insert has had corrections to edge and fold wear, some fold separations, small tears, and pinholes. There was chipping at the top border extending slightly into the printing, as well as small chips in the borders. The linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders, which have been airbrushed. Fine+ on Linen.
Estimate: $2,500 - $5,000.
