DescriptionThe Cat's Meow (Pathé, 1924). Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Harry Langdon stars as a bashful young man who takes his lady (Alice Day) to an establishment with "a reputation" in this comedy short. After he is pounded by ruffians, he is hired on as a cop, tasked with cleaning the place up. This was only Langdon's sixth screen appearance and predates his greatest work in The Strong Man (1926) and Long Pants (1927) both directed by Frank Capra. Partial touchup on this gorgeous stone litho poster has been applied to the folds, vertical creases, and minor tears. Some of these issues are still visible, as are a few very small unobtrusive stains. The linen has been trimmed to the border, but it does not appear to extend into the paper itself.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
