    Description

    The Cat's Meow (Pathé, 1924). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Harry Langdon stars as a bashful young man who takes his lady (Alice Day) to an establishment with "a reputation" in this comedy short. After he is pounded by ruffians, he is hired on as a cop, tasked with cleaning the place up. This was only Langdon's sixth screen appearance and predates his greatest work in The Strong Man (1926) and Long Pants (1927) both directed by Frank Capra. He is one of the great silent film comedians whose work, though admired today by historians, is largely forgotten by the public. Featuring gorgeous stone litho artwork, this one sheet has had no further restoration after being backed on linen and shows very few flaws. There is slight fold wear, very minor spots in the image area and borders, a small hole next to the "S" in "Cat's,"and light stains and a nick at the lower crossfold. The linen has been trimmed to the border, but not into the poster itself. Very Fine on Linen.
