Description

The Bride of Frankenstein (Universal, 1935). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). One of the most perfect horror movies ever made, this was the sequel to 1931's Frankenstein. Reuniting stars Boris Karloff as the monster and Colin Clive as Dr. Henry Frankenstein, this exceptional sequel added the incomparable Ernest Thesiger as the oily Dr. Pretorius, a scientist whose own line of work in the creation of life parallels that of Frankenstein, and Elsa Lanchester as the eponymous Bride. With a perfect blend of horror, humor, thrills, and chills, supported by an excellent score by Franz Waxman, this is one of those rare instances in which the sequel is even better than the classic original. It should come as no surprise, then, that paper from this title is some of the most hotly pursued in the entire hobby. This luscious lobby card, in which the Monster and Pretorius "convince" Henry to work on a mate for the creature, has had professional restoration applied to address small scratches in the title area, and tears and creases within the card. Additionally, the borders were trimmed up to the image area, and have consequently been replaced. The restoration on this card is absolutely first rate, returning an as-new, Near Mint appearance to this highly desirable gem. The colors on this copy are about as bright as they get. Very Good- on Paper.
