Description

The Brementown Musicians (Powers ComiColor, 1935). One Sheet (26" X 41").
The ComiColor Cartoon series consisted of 25 animated short subjects produced by Ub Iwerks studio from 1933 to 1936. Shot exclusively in Cinecolor, the entries were almost all based upon popular fairy tales and other familiar stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Old Mother Hubbard, and The Headless Horseman. In The Brementown Musicians, a band of farm animals runs away from their ill-tempered master. When they see a quartet singing for coins on the street, they form their own band, but do not meet with success. Downtrodden, they return to the farm just in time to chase away three burglars, and all is well. This lively stone litho one sheet features a light-hearted moment with the animals attempting to croon a tune for a not-so-amused villager. Touchup to the folds and a small tear in one of the crossfolds. From the collection of Pete Merolo. Very Fine on Linen.
