Description
The Black Watch (Fox, 1929). One Sheet (27" X 41").Produced during Hollywood's massive shift from silent films to sound, renowned director John Ford embraced cinema's greatest innovation in his very first all-talking picture. Victor McLaglen also made his sound debut playing a British soldier undercover in India, starring alongside Myrna Loy, who plays an Indian princess and espionage ring leader, and keen-eyed viewers can spot a young John Wayne as a background extra. The film serves as a interesting peek into the past, with its somewhat awkward dialogue, overused musical scores, and interspersed title screens held over from the Silent Era shedding light onto an industry in transition. Heritage is thrilled to present its first one sheet from this momentous film, featuring stylistic images of a moody McLaglen and a very pre-Code Loy. In wonderful display condition, the poster had pinholes in the borders, a small chip in the center crossfold, two chips in the right border, a tear in the upper and right border, misfolds at the horizontal folds, and a sliver of loss at the upper edge. Touchup has been applied to the folds and the "All Talking" in the upper imprint area. Very Fine- on Linen.
