    Description

The Black Cat (Universal, 1934). Window Card (14" X 22").
Director Edgar Ulmer's The Black Cat, with its themes of love, war, revenge, Satanism, and even necrophilia, was one of the most unsettling, atmospheric films to come out of Universal's Golden Age of Horror. It is lauded for its memorable Art Deco/Bauhaus sets and the inspired performances of the two stars, fright-masters Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. Like most Universal horror titles of the 1930s, paper from this movie is always in demand, and this very scarce window card is no exception. Prior to restoration, this card showed a crease at the bottom, a horizontal fold, and some pinholes. The window card was once trimmed along the top and the left side, going into Karloff, Lugosi, and Jacqueline Wells' images. All of these issues have been very skillfully addressed, making this card look incredible and display ready. Good on Cardstock.
