    Description

The Black Cat (Universal, 1934). Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5"). This was the first cinematic team-up of horror greats Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. Under the direction of Edgar G. Ulmer, they produced one of the best (and creepiest) horror films of all time. Karloff is a Satanist, who has stolen Lugosi's wife and daughter (marrying both), caused the deaths of thousands of his countrymen and had Lugosi imprisoned for 15 years. Lugosi returns, seeking revenge, and has it, with Karloff being literally skinned alive. Needless to say, any poster from this classic horror film is highly desirable. Another copy of this Swedish one sheet previously sold in our July, 2006 auction for $12,650.00. The poster has a hole in the upper right corner, an edge chip in the upper left, and edge tears on the top left, lower left and bottom borders, and a small corner bend on the bottom right. The poster has been beautifully and professionally restored and mounted on paper, giving it a near mint appearance. Rolled, Very Fine on Paper.
