DescriptionThe Big Sleep (Warner Brothers, 1946). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall are superb in Howard Hawks' film noir adaptation of Raymond Chandler's novel. Bogart is Philip Marlowe, a private detective who, along with Bacall's Vivian Rutledge, finds himself caught in a web of lies, murder, lust, greed, and blackmail. This one sheet featuring a portrait of the two stars is a must for noir fans! Professional restoration has addressed some fold wear and separation, pinholes in the corners, and a few small tears. There were minor chips in the folds, as well as one in Bogart's forehead, and very careful touchup has been applied to writing on the verso that mostly does not show through. The borders also have some light airbrushing. Fine+ on Linen.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
