    Description

The Big Shot (Warner Bros., 1949). Very Fine on Linen. First Release Full-Bleed French Grande (44.5" X 61") Boris Grinsson Artwork.
Compared to this vibrant Boris Grinsson artwork, the U.S. one sheet cannot compete with the depth and color of his design in this rare poster. With his talented use of beautiful hues and light, it is not surprising that Grinsson created over 2,000 posters during his career. Grinsson's skillful rendition of Irene Manning lures viewers in with her gaze as the looming portrait of Humphrey Bogart gives a knowing look, as if he knew this would be his last gangster film for Warner Brothers before becoming the King of the Warner lot. Manning's depiction in light and bright color contrasts with Bogart waiting in the shadows alluding to their character's relationship in the film. Restoration has been applied to the folds, minor tears, pinholes, and light creasing. There is a faint unaddressed stain near the lower edge. This head-turning artwork is by the highly regarded artist Boris Grinsson, and captures one of the most iconic portraits of Bogart ever created.
