DescriptionThe African Queen (United Artists, 1952). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Humphrey Bogart may have risen to fame playing gangsters during the 1930s, but it was his 1952 performance that won him an Oscar for portraying a drunken riverboat captain on a mission, accompanied by a spinster Katharine Hepburn, to sink a German battleship during WWI. This remains one of Bogart's and Hepburn's best films, and this one sheet dazzles with all of the action that John Huston's film promised. The poster had few issues that needed fixing, with touchup applied to the folds and a minor tear in the right border. There are a couple of unaddressed pinholes in the left border and some faint toning at the edges. The linen has been trimmed to the borders, but not into the poster itself. Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
