DescriptionThe African Queen (United Artists, 1952). Insert (14" X 36").
Charlie Allnut (Humphrey Bogart) gets more than he bargained for when he takes on Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn), agreeing to transport the prim missionary to safety on his boat, The African Queen. When Rose discovers the German gunboat is in the area, she plots with Charlie to blow it up, and the adventure begins. Shot on location in Africa, this highly acclaimed picture was directed by John Huston, and won an Academy Award for Bogart. Hepburn and Bogey make an intrepid pair on this beautiful insert, which has been paperbacked. Prior to touch-up, the piece showed fold wear, a couple of small chips, and tears in the borders. some of the tears extend into the interior and image area. The borders, the orange text box at the top, and the lower half of the orange text box at the bottom have been airbrushed. Fine+ on Paper.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
