DescriptionThe 400 Blows (Hispamex, 1960). Spanish One Sheet (28" X 39.25") Jano Artwork.
Francois Truffaut's first feature film was this 1959 portrait of Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud), a boy who turns to petty crime in the face of neglect at home and hard times at reform school. A semi-autobiography of its director, the film helped usher in the heady spirit of the French New Wave, and introduced the Doinel character, who became a fixture in Truffaut's movies over the years. With a similar layout to Boris Grinsson's famous French poster, talented Spanish artist Jano adds a touch of dynamic motion and splashes of color to the iconic image. Touchup has been applied to the folds, pinholes in the borders, a small chip in the upper border, and a tear from the bottom border into the credit area. Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $400 - $800.
