    The 13th Chair (MGM, 1929). Rotogravure One Sheet (27" X 41").
This sensational rotogravure one sheet was inspired by Tod Browning's first foray into talking pictures, which was also his earliest collaboration with Bela Lugosi, two years before the pair made the horror masterpiece Dracula. Inspector Delzante (Lugosi) is called to a British mansion in Calcutta to solve two murders, at first thought to have been committed by the young Helen O'Neill (Leila Hyams) who is the ward of medium Madame LaGrange (Margaret Wycherly). Delzante gets to the bottom of the crimes by re-creating a séance at the location of one murder, and scaring the killer into a confession. Holmes Herbert and Conrad Nagel co-star. Browning had been directing films for sixteen years at this point, with several early successes such as The Unknown and London After Midnight, which often starred Lon Chaney. The piece has been professionally restored to address fold wear, a few minor pinholes in the field, a small chip in the left border, one in the lower left corner, and a tear in the top border. Even with these slight imperfections, the poster displays beautifully. Paper from this early Lugosi picture is scarce and always in high demand, making this an absolute must have for fans of horror classics. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
