    Description

The Mark of Zorro (20th Century Fox, 1940). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A. From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
A poster of this collecting magnitude rarely surfaces. First appearing in a 1919 edition of All-Story Weekly, Johnston McCulley's mysterious avenger, Zorro, graced the silver screen several times before the dashing Tyrone Power donned the black mask of justice. Reprising the role first brought to the screen by Douglas Fairbanks twenty years earlier, many critics thought that Power bested Fairbanks, perhaps not in lithe athleticism but with an agile tongue. Power was as quick with a one liner as he was with his sword. Based on the novel The Curse of Capistrano, this swashbuckling masterpiece is considered by many to be the greatest Zorro film of them all, starring Basil Rathbone and Linda Darnell alongside Power. Touchup has been applied to slight fold wear and separations, small tears, and a couple of paper lifts. Unaddressed wear includes slight edge wear, a few unobtrusive stains, thin dust shadows, and faint smudges. The linen has been trimmed nearly to the edges. Only offered twice before, this is an opportunity collectors will not want to miss.
