The Mark of Zorro (20th Century Fox, 1940). Australian Daybill (15" X 40").
Tyrone Power reprises the role first brought to the screen by Douglas Fairbanks twenty years earlier, and many critics thought that Power bested Fairbanks -- perhaps not in lithe athleticism but with an agile tongue. Power was as quick with a one liner as he was with his sword. Basil Rathbone relishes his role as the evil assistant to the governor, sort of a moral inverse of Dr. Watson, the right-hand that helps his superior (the governor, J. Edward Bromberg) to enact villainous schemes rather than solve them. Making its Heritage debut, this brilliant daybill shows vertical and horizontal creases, a fold split on the right, light staining in the left and right borders, paper loss in the left border, and a punch mark in the upper imprint area. There is a small bit of paper loss in the Tyrone Power's eye in the bottom image. Folded, Fine+.
