DescriptionSuspicion (RKO, 1941). Fine+. Title Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Following their successful collaboration in Rebecca, Joan Fontaine and Alfred Hitchcock reteamed for this suspense thriller. Once again, a new marriage carries an ominous threat for Fontaine, whose innocent face Hitchcock enjoyed darkening with the shadows of predators. Cary Grant hardly makes as fearsome a presence as Judith Anderson's Mrs. Danvers, but his ingratiating charm somehow makes him more dangerous. Partial restoration has addressed edge wear, pinholes, small tears, and faint surface wear. There was some staining in the lower right corner and background, as well as a sliver of paper loss along the left border where the card had been bound into a book. The borders and verso have been partially airbrushed and the card still shows a few small unaddressed stains. Fine+.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
