Description

    Superman (Columbia, 1948). Six Sheet (81" X 81").
Superman was introduced to the world in 1938 in Action Comics #1 and in the process, became the first super hero. By the early 1940s, he was already a legend and a natural for the serials. Republic's The Adventures of Captain Marvel was supposed to be the first Superman serial, but due to legal complications, had to be changed and it wasn't until 1948 that the Man of Steel would make it to the big screen in a live-action format. With Kirk Alyn portraying the dual role of Superman and his mild-mannered alter ego, Clark Kent, he took on the evil Queen of the Underworld, the Spider Lady. And through twelve exciting chapters he flew through the skies, stopped bullets and performed other amazing stunts that kept kids glued to their seats. Other than some retouch work done to a few of the red fold lines in the films title and Superman's cape, this poster is almost completely free of restoration. There are a few pinholes in the borders and a few within the image close to the edges of the sections where it was displayed at one time. Other than that, this poster is in amazing, super condition. Very Fine- on Linen.
