Sunset Boulevard (Paramount, 1950). CGC Graded Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
In the 1940's, director Billy Wilder made the trek almost daily up and down the twenty-two mile stretch of road that runs through Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, and Brentwood. As he viewed the grand old homes of by-gone stars from Hollywood's Golden Age, he wondered how they spent their days and of the dramas of real life that had replaced their careers. He would create from those thoughts one of the darkest but most fascinating glimpses of the film world ever photographed. This complete set of lobby cards gives tantalizing hints at the noirish tone of the film and the almost palpable desperation of the characters. Even the title, done in a street sign font, is terrifically framed by the symbolic twisted celluloid. The lobbies have been CGC graded. Cards #4 and #5 are graded 7.0 (fine/very fine), card #8 is graded 7.5 (very fine-), card #1 is graded 8.0 (very fine), cards #2 and #6 are graded 8.5 (very fine+), card #7 is graded 9.0 (very fine/near mint), and card #3 is graded 9.2 (near mint-). Overall Grade: Very Fine.
