    Description

    Sunset Boulevard (Paramount, 1950). Autographed Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
This style B half sheet is one of those rare examples of a movie poster design that simply doesn't encapsulate the feel of the film any more magnificently. Set against a backdrop of seething scarlet, Gloria Swanson's wicked, scorching glare falls upon the young lovers, William Holden and Nancy Olson. Eyebrows arched, eyes wide, and nostrils flared, Swanson could put any horror film beast to shame! As the knotted film strip with the picture's title suggests, Swanson's legendary character, actress Norma Desmond's career is in the tank, no longer able to "run through the projector." Perhaps the even bigger triumph of this fabulous poster is that Gloria Swanson herself autographed the piece in a large, bold signature. The signature reads: "To Richard Moore, Greetings and Joy, Gloria Swanson, 1980." There are only minor imperfections, such as a mild stain in the bottom border, a faint dust shadow in the top edge, a small tear in the right and top border, a small chip in the top right corner, and a tiny bend in the lower left corner. Collectors will be hard pressed to find another poster for this classic film noir signed by Ms. Swanson. Folded, Fine+.
