    Description

    Sundown Rider (Columbia, 1932). Three Sheet (41" X 80.75").
Buck Jones is Camp O'Neill, a man on the run who's been wrongfully accused of murder. He lands a job under a different identity on the ranch of Molly McCall (Barbara Weeks). Jones led a storied real life, serving in the U.S. Cavalry, working as a trick rider in a Wild West revue, performing in the Ringling Bros. circus, and eventually entering films as a stunt double in 1917. Within two years, the actor was promoted to his own starring series for Fox Studios. With the addition of his horse, Silver, Jones became a favorite screen cowboy. At the zenith of his popularity in the 1930s, his Buck Jones Rangers club counted five million members, and he received more fan mail than Clark Gable. Jones was tragically killed in 1942, while attending a fete in his honor at the Cocoanut Grove Club in Boston. An excellent tribute to the cowboy hero, this stone litho three sheet is incredibly scarce, and the first one Heritage has offered. Restoration has addressed chips and tears in the borders and some in the image area, and the colors are richly saturated. For Jones fans, it doesn't get any better than this! Very Good/Fine on Linen.
