DescriptionStrangers on a Train (Warner Bros., 1951). Very Fine+ on Linen. Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78") Luigi Martinati.
Another classic thriller from Alfred Hitchcock, the director weaves this tale of murder and suspense with a deft hand, slowly tightening the noose of terror around Farley Granger's neck with each scene. Based on Patricia Hightower's eponymous novel and with climatic elements from Edmund Crispin's story The Moving Toyshop, this picture features one of Hitchcock's most memorable climaxes in his career, the brutal brawl between Granger and Robert Walker on a wild carousel, an amazing sight with its stunning special effects. Luigi Martinati's colorful palette plays off of Hitch's pervasive contrast of darkness and light, using the romantic pastel image of Granger in the background to bring out the violent blood red coating of Walker. The poster only has minimal touchup to the fold lines and a slight bit of airbrushing to a couple of tiny chips in the edges.
Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
