The Truth About Carpentier vs. Siki (Svenska Filmkompaniet, 1922). Folded, Very Fine-. Swedish One Sheet (23.5" X 35.5").
One of the most controversial fights from the golden days of boxing, the 1922 bout between champion Georges Carpentier and Battling Siki has been a cause of speculation for decades. Bribed by Carpentier's managers, Siki had been paid to take a fall, so long as Carpentier didn't deliver any hard hits to the Senegalese boxer. Perhaps unaware of the set-up, Carpentier took the fight seriously, delivering heavy punches until Siki dropped the act and fought back for real. Too bad for the Frenchman, his challenger proved too much and felled Carpentier with an illegal knee to the gut. Signs of use include mild edge wear, slight creases, minor tears, and small smudges. There is a piece of archival tape on the verso bracing one of the tears. Folded, Very Fine-.
